Major order for Streetscooter

StreetScooter, a provider of electrically powered commercial vehicles, has received another major order for its e-transporters. The start-up UZE Mobility is buying 500 Work and Work L models from the Deutsche Post subsidiary. They are to be used as emission-free car-sharing vehicles in selected cities. Private users will be able to rent them easily via an app, for example for removals or bulky purchases.

Data for urban logistics
UZE Mobility is planning to offer its vehicles free of charge. The company aims to be significantly below the usual market prices from the start of the pilot projects. UZE Mobility's business model: the company collects and analyzes vehicle and traffic data, which is recorded by GPS transmitters attached to the e-transporters. This enables urban e-logistics to be organized more efficiently and relieves cities of traffic, noise and emissions. The company can also offer forms of advertising for businesses or public transport companies.

Robust and efficient
The StreetScooter, developed for the demanding daily delivery routine at Deutsche Post, is well suited to the car-sharing concept due to its robustness. Wearing parts such as the door hinges are particularly stable. "Car sharing is an extremely demanding application for a van. The StreetScooters are the ideal vehicles for our business. They have enough range, are robust and the operating costs are low. Above all, they have already proven themselves in practice," says Sebastian Thelen, CDO and co-founder of UZE Mobility. Both companies are spin-offs from RWTH Aachen University. "We think it's great that our StreetScooter is now the main player in an innovative digital mobility project," says Prof. Dr. Achim Kampker, CEO of StreetScooter GmbH.
