The three-day online conference was organized by BVL.digital. "The logistics sector shines with its innovative strength in the digital field. We are delighted that we were able to showcase and acknowledge this at this conference," said Dr. Christian Grotemeier, Managing Director of BVL.digital, who also moderated the event.

The conference followed the dramaturgical red thread from the micro to the macro view of logistical topics and challenges. Each of the three event days began with a panel discussion. This was followed by presentations and workshops, and each day ended with keynote speeches. On the first day, futurologist, engineer and pilot Morell Westermann took the participants on the world record flight with the first certified electric aircraft from the Alps to the North Sea to Norderney, which took place in September 2020. "The electrification of aviation today is where cars were around ten years ago," said Westermann. On the second day, the conference participants had the opportunity to meet Frank Jørgensen. The Dane has just succeeded Frank Sportolari at the helm of UPS Germany, Austria, Switzerland. Jørgensen was enthusiastic about the team spirit at UPS and the willingness to embrace change.

The third day of the Digital Logitics Days began with a spontaneously organized interview on the current situation at the Suez Canal. Ulf Venne from Everstream Analystics reported on the current situation. The container freighter Ever Given, 400 meters long and 59 meters wide, has run aground and is lying across the waterway, preventing the passage of more than 150 other ships. Supply bottlenecks are to be feared. In the panel discussion that followed, the topic was addressed from the perspective of a shipper and a logistics service provider.

The Digital Logistics Days concluded in the afternoon with a presentation by Martin Richenhagen, the long-standing CEO of AGCO. The German-American top manager addressed global political and economic contexts and took an external look at the situation in Germany during the coronavirus crisis: "The German government is trying to solve a serious crisis bureaucratically," said Richenhagen. The US government, on the other hand, is leaving many things to the common sense of its citizens. In addition to the management of the pandemic, the diesel scandal - and the breakdowns and delays at BER airport - are contributing to Germany's weak image in the US.
