AutoStore ensures greater efficiency for laundry specialist

Dematic is automating the warehouse of laundry specialist Mireille NV with an AutoStore system in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. In future, the company will store personal protective equipment such as workwear, shoes and gloves for small and medium-sized companies in the facility, which measures just 186 square meters.

"The Dematic AutoStore system requires only half the space of competing systems on the market and automatically accesses the order bins when orders are received. This allows us to process orders much more efficiently than before," says Koen Vandevenne, Financial Director at Mireille NV. The AutoStore system replaces Mireille's previous 400 square meter warehouse.

Robots compile the orders and automatically transport the beld-loaded article containers to one of the two picking stations, where employees prepare them for dispatch. Previously, staff had to travel long distances for each order in order to pick the individual items. "With the same number of employees, we can process more orders in less time thanks to AutoStore," says Vandevenne.

To begin with, Mireille is using 5,000 of the AutoStore system's 8,000 containers. This means that additional storage capacity is directly available. The warehouse management software controlling the system is connected to Mireille's existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system via an interface. This ensures automatic data exchange and smooth operation.
