Economic survey
We expect another record year
In the second part of materialfluss's exclusive encouraging survey on the economic outlook for 2023, six more industry experts give their views. Martin McVicar, Managing Director of Combilift, is one of them.
Our order backlog has never been as high as this year. We are expecting another record year in 2023. Like many companies in the sector, we are facing challenges. The three most important ones: Inflation and rising transportation costs, the ongoing shortage of skilled labor and supply chain disruptions. We can't stop inflation, but we can help our customers counteract it to a certain extent, for example by optimizing their warehouse space. To meet the demand for labor, we have partnered with a local educational institution and offer internal internships and apprenticeships. We have also expanded our premises to enable us to store larger buffer stocks. For 2023, we plan to invest heavily in products suitable for the offshore wind energy sector. Other factors will also influence the economic outlook for 2023 - the war in Ukraine and rising energy costs. From our perspective, we do not expect growth in the developed countries, but we see many opportunities in the developing markets and are experiencing significant growth in markets such as India.
