The column from Intra Logistik

Intra Logistik,

Dear German logisticians, I am writing you a letter!

Dear German logisticians,
I am writing you a letter because I like you. Because when the annual industry navel-gazing took place at the Logistics Congress in Berlin in October, you showed who the navel is: the logisticians - not the associations, federations and lobbyists.

Intra Logistik writes what it thinks. Tell Intra what you think about it: [email protected]

You have presented an initiative with which you make clear the importance of the logistics industry: Economic creators. You keep the whole machine running. That's good. And it's important that not only the logistics experts tell each other this, but above all that they make it clear to the beneficiaries, who are at the same time the top bosses: the consumers.
A few years ago, we had to put up with the truck sign "As long as you can't send apples by email, we'll have to share the road!" in our daily traffic jam.

This almost comical idea has reducedlogistics to a necessary evil, the truck. By showing that logisticians are the driving force behind the economy, you showthe real importance of the industry, especially as you make the people behind it visible: programmers, drivers, project managers, purchasers. You can tell that there are PR people and advertisers behind your initiative. Because it is good. But you can also see that there were two basic ideas that you threw together in a compromise, which is bad. Hence my first request: Don't call the economy makers logistics heroes. This weakens the economy makers, is an internal view, and the mental path from logistics hero to delivery hero is very short. Secondly, don't reduce the sender to the German logistics experts. Word should have gotten around even beyond your Macs that logistics is international. Almost all the companies that are already with you are now only based in Germany out of tradition. Thirdly: Power! Don't talk around - and don't get entangled in organizational forms, committees and beneficiaries. Otherwise you will be nothing more than an association or union. Fourthly: Get into the public eye quickly and permanently! These messages are even better placed in Kicker and Capital than in LT-manager! And my request to the logistics experts: Get involved! Three more questions for BVL: Wouldn't it be your job to communicate to the public the importance of logistics in the economy? Isn't that an essential motivation for your existence? Isn't that why you bring the former Chancellor and Altmaier to Berlin?
