Multimodal delivery
UPS delivers largest international freight shipment to Expo 2020
UPS, the official logistics partner of Expo 2020 in Dubai, is delivering three carbon fiber entrance gates for the exhibition. The delivery of the three gates is the largest cumulative international freight shipment for Expo 2020 handled by UPS.
The precision-manufactured gates were designed and built by HA-CO Carbon GmbH, a small company in Bavaria. In line with Expo 2020's motto of sustainability, 90 percent of the material used for the permanent area of the exhibition grounds, including the entrance gates, will be recycled or used for new purposes after the event. The 21 x 30 meter carbon fiber structures were placed at the three main entrances to the site. The entrances will shape the skyline of the Expo 2020 site and symbolize the futuristic spirit of the international exhibition.
"These extraordinary entrance gates will welcome 25 million visitors - the equivalent of the population of Australia. That is nothing short of monumental. So is the total logistical effort that went into these shipments," said Nando Cesarone, President of UPS International. "Whether it's a 21-meter entrance or a small package for the international visitor at Expo 2020, our world-class logistics are made possible by a dedicated team that will grow to up to 600 employees for this global endeavor."
UPS, the official logistics partner of Expo 2020 in Dubai, has organized and executed several shipments from Germany via the Belgian port of Antwerp to Dubai's main commercial port in Jebel Ali.
