Intermodal transportation
TX Logistik invests in modern freight wagons
TX Logistik AG is investing in its own freight wagon fleet and has ordered a total of 238 T3000e pocket wagons. The first new wagons for intermodal transport were delivered at the end of October and the remaining 187 are to follow in several tranches by July 2021. The wagons are equipped with digital sensor modules.
"It's time for new wagons," said Gian Paolo Gotelli, CEO of the company. "Following the important investments in multi-system locomotives, we are continuing to implement our investment plan with the purchase of 238 double-pocket wagons. This will support the growth of the European network and give us even greater efficiency and quality." According to the company, the T3000e wagons produced by Slovakian manufacturer Tatravagonka meet the highest demands of the market, as they enable TX Logistik to transport the latest generation of mega semi-trailers as well as standard trailers, containers and swap bodies on its intermodal trains at a maximum speed of 120 km per hour. In order to be able to use the new freight wagons as future-proof and individually as possible, TX Logistik has also opted for some special equipment: The wagons have a 30-foot container suspension, fast-acting brakes and the latest generation of thermostable wheelsets.
In addition, the new TX Logistik T3000e is equipped with modern digital technology. Thanks to the recent partnership with the Swiss company Nexxiot AG, specialist for digital solutions in the supply chain, TX Logistik will test the use of Nexxiot Globehopper sensor modules in a pilot project together with other companies of the Mercitalia Group. This is a maintenance-free hardware unit for better tracking of the wagons and real-time monitoring of all maintenance-relevant data using IoT sensor technology.
