Company figures
Schuon 2022 continues on course for growth
The Schuon Group presents its corporate figures for the 2022 financial year. Despite inflation and the energy crisis, which have continued to challenge the international transport and logistics service provider, the growth trajectory of recent years has been maintained. Overall, the Haiterbach-based group of companies generated a turnover of around 92 million euros. Both the transport and contract logistics divisions have continued to develop positively. Through the use of photovoltaic systems, the Schuon Group was able to save around 9,430 tons of CO2 emissions.
"The year 2022 was once again characterized by many challenges. In addition to ongoing supply chain disruptions and material and capacity bottlenecks, we were confronted above all with massively rising costs, which we successfully overcame," says Alexander Schuon, Managing Director of Alfred Schuon GmbH. Despite all the adversity, the Haiterbach-based transport and logistics service provider was able to achieve an increase of 20 percent compared to the previous year with an annual turnover of 92 million euros. "This performance is of course thanks to our energetic employees, who give their best every day to ensure that we are and remain a reliable partner for our customers for high-quality transport and logistics services," adds Schuon.
The transport and forwarding services for large-volume goods from insulation, packaging and automotive manufacturers was once again the business segment with the highest turnover last year. With a total of 340 scheduled vehicles in operation, around 120,000 transport shipments were handled across Europe and more than 35,800,000 transport kilometers were covered. "We reacted quickly to the challenges on the market in order to use our resources along the value chain as efficiently as possible. Among other things, we were able to counteract the shortage of skilled workers with various recruitment measures," explains Schuon.
The Group is also ideally positioned in the contract logistics sector with around 112,000 square meters of managed logistics space in southern Germany, contributing almost a quarter of total turnover in 2022. Battery logistics for the automotive industry is a particular focus here. "Batteries for electric and hybrid vehicles are playing an increasingly important role due to the energy transition, which is why we are gradually expanding our foothold in this sector," says Schuon.
When it comes to sustainability, the logistics group has been pursuing its Green Logistics strategy for climate-friendly and energy-efficient logistics since 2006. The use of photovoltaic systems reduces a large part of the vehicle fleet's pollutant emissions. As a result, around 9,430 tons of CO2 emissions were saved last year. Schuon is continuously working on reducing its company-wide CO2 footprint. "In the long term, we would like to expand our modern fleet, which consists of 100% low-emission EURO 6 and LNG trucks, to include vehicles with other alternative drive systems," says Schuon.
