Fiege receives award as Open Innovation Challenger

The European Commission's Startup Europe Partnership (SEP) initiative has once again recognized Fiege as an "Open Innovation Challenger". For the fourth time in a row, start-ups from all over Europe nominated the most active companies in the field of Open Innovation as part of the Corporate Startup Stars Awards and were honored for the second time after 2018.

The ranking also includes international corporations such as Google, Nestlé and Bridgestone. In addition to Fiege, three other companies from Germany have been recognized - Bosch, Daimler and SAP.

The ranking is compiled by the innovation consultancy Mind the Bridge and the Nesta Innovation Foundation as part of the European Commission's Startup Europe Partnership initiative. 36 European companies were honored on December 10 in Madrid.

"Receiving this award once again is a wonderful confirmation of our efforts to firmly anchor the topic of innovation in our corporate culture", said Michael Geers from Corporate Development, who represented Fiege at the award ceremony. "As a family business, to be recognized as an innovator among so many renowned corporations makes us proud."

Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, said: "A sustainable innovation ecosystem in Europe requires both start-ups that can grow dimensionally and internationally, as well as established companies that are able to innovate."

During the award ceremony, Mind the Bridge and Nesta presented a new study entitled "The Status of Open Innovation in Europe". This report contains data from the 36 leading companies recognized as active open innovation companies in Europe and provides a detailed analysis of how innovation leaders are evolving in their collaboration with startups. Specifically, the research describes approaches to open innovation by assessing both "internal" conditions (strategy, organization, processes, culture) and "external" outcomes (actions and results).
