Railport Antwerp appoints Nils van Vliet as CEO
Antwerp/Belgium, 26/06/2018 -

As of July 1, Nils van Vliet will be the new CEO of Railport Antwerp, an initiative to promote rail activities in the port of Antwerp. Van Vliet has worked for the Belgian private railroad company DLC since 2004 and has been COO since 2015. Railport Antwerp is an association of the Antwerp Port Authority, the Left Bank Development Corporation and the industry associations Essenscia Vlaanderen and VOKA-Alfaport.
Focus on coordination of rail activities
The focus of Railport Antwerp's activities to date has been on carrying out studies and test projects relating to distribution traffic. In future, Railport will be increasingly involved in coordinating the various rail activities in the port of Antwerp. The volume of rail traffic in the port is to be doubled over the next few years.
"For the port of Antwerp, shifting transport to rail is a top priority. I am convinced that with Railport we can give the necessary impetus for rail transport to play a much more important role. I am delighted at the prospect of being able to make a contribution to this in the near future," says Nils van Vliet.
The initiative is intended to act as a link between the rail transport companies, the rail infrastructure manager, the port companies, the shippers and the terminals.
