Fiege opens logistics center in Zaandam, the Netherlands
The Greven-based logistics service provider Fiege is strengthening its presence in the Netherlands. In the new logistics center in Zaandam, the subsidiary Fiege B.V. consolidates a large part of its customer business in the consumer products sector.
The Fiege Group has opened its new logistics center just outside of Amsterdam. In just twelve months of construction, around 43,000 square meters of additional logistics space was completed for Fiege B.V. in Zaandam. The Dutch subsidiary of the Greven-based logistics service provider will use the modern property as its new headquarters and accommodate a large part of its customer business there. The logistics center is strategically located on the north bank of the Port of Amsterdam and just a few kilometers from Schiphol Airport.
The largest customer at the multi-user-capable location is the Dutch furniture and furnishing brand Zuiver, for which Fiege has been responsible for warehousing and distribution for more than ten years and now handles around 90,000 orders per year. Pieter Hogenhout, Managing Director of Zuiver B.V., explains: "The close partnership between the Zuiver Group and Fiege, which has existed since 2012, is now entering a new phase. With the new distribution center, which is just a stone's throw away from our headquarters, we will be equipped to process our orders even faster in the future. We are moving our business from five locations to one central location, which means an immense gain in efficiency. The cooperation with Fiege has been very constructive over the past years, but above all always friendly. Fiege has often not only fulfilled our expectations, but even exceeded them. We now wish Fiege, its employees and the Fiege family every success with this beautiful new location."
Martin Rademaker, CEO of the Fiege Group, says: "The new logistics center is a milestone in the cooperation with our long-standing customer Zuiver and it impressively demonstrates how successfully both companies have developed and grown over the past years. The new building creates long-term expansion opportunities for Fiege in the Netherlands and strengthens our presence in one of Europe's most important economic regions. We would like to express our gratitude for the constructive cooperation between the municipality of Zaandam, our construction partners and investors as well as the responsible project team."
The additional new building in the HoogTij Business Park is located in the immediate vicinity of the existing Fiege branch in Zaandam, which will remain in place for further use. The design and construction of the logistics center, realized by the Fiege Real Estate division, also took ecological and social aspects into account. The building is particularly light-flooded for a pleasant working atmosphere and has efficient building management technology as well as numerous charging stations to promote e-mobility. The sustainable property meets the BREEAM certification level Excellent. A photovoltaic system will be installed on the entire roof area to produce solar power for the site's own use.
