Initiative #LogistikHilft receives honorary award from the Logistics Hall of Fame
The Logistics Hall of Fame is awarding an honorary prize for the first time since its inception: as part of the official gala reception in Berlin, the international hall of fame is honoring the #LogistikHilft initiative. With this award, the approximately 70-member jury of the Logistics Hall of Fame recognizes the voluntary commitment of the initiative, which has proven during the corona crisis that fast and unbureaucratic help is possible at any time.
In the eyes of the jury, the decisive factor for the honorary award was the fact that all the funds raised by the initiative do not go indirectly to the logistics industry, but directly to those affected. "#LogistikHilft has set an example of solidarity with logistics - far beyond the economic success of individual companies," said the jury, explaining its decision.
The initiators of #LogistikHilft are the Federal Ministry of Transport, the Federal Association of Road Haulage, Logistics and Disposal (BGL), the DocStop and SaniStop initiatives, the Fraunhofer IML, the Logistics Alliance Germany and a large number of partners and supporters from transport logistics, the commercial vehicle industry, the media and associations. Among other things, the initiative has helped to ensure that truck drivers have hygienic and clean toilets and shower facilities even during the coronavirus crisis. In April, the first sanitary container was set up on the A8 at the Höllberg-Nord service area between Stuttgart and Pforzheim, followed by a second one near Berlin. By the end of 2020 alone, around 150 of these facilities are to be set up on freeways and in large logistics centers.
At the beginning of April, Fraunhofer IML also launched a brokerage platform for transport capacities, which brings together companies that need capacities such as employees or storage space with all those who can offer a corresponding offer as a specialist or with resources, free of charge and in an uncomplicated manner. Furthermore, #LogistikHilft also includes a web store through which logistics companies can purchase protective equipment such as face masks, FFP-2 masks and disinfectants at favorable conditions. Four cents per mask and product are donated to the initiative. The donations will be used to finance the purchase of additional shower and toilet containers, among other things.
At the gala reception in Berlin, Gudrun Winner-Athens, Managing Partner of Spedition Winner, is inducted into the logistics hall of fame as a pioneer of combined transport. Olaf Schabirosky, CEO of Hermes Germany, receives the "Traton Logistics Leader of the Year" award.
