Logistics service providers
GLS Germany delivers parcels by bike

The cargo bike with electronic pedal assistance can transport around 200 kilograms and delivers to recipients in the city center and the adjacent Paradiesviertel district on its tour. "Bicycles are more maneuverable in the city, easier to park and are also not subject to any environmental traffic restrictions," says Anne Putz, Head of Corporate Communication at GLS. "It is also important to us to specifically reduce environmental pollution and promote low-emission deliveries."
Green and efficient in the city center
Every morning, a GLS van from Donaueschingen driving through the area brings a trailer to Constance for parcel delivery. It serves as a micro-depot through which the bike box can be repeatedly loaded. This means that around 120 recipients can be delivered by bike every day - replacing a complete delivery tour with a diesel-powered vehicle. With the bike, GLS is optimizing city logistics and making a further contribution to environmental protection, which is being implemented as part of the company's own ThinkGreen program. Cargo bikes are also in use for GLS in Belgium, Italy, Austria, Hungary and Spain. red
