Global initiative for electric truck charging infrastructure

Together with e-truck customers, power grid operators, energy suppliers, charging hardware manufacturers and charging software providers, Daimler Trucks is establishing a network for joint infrastructure solutions. The "eTruck Charging" initiative will initially focus on truck depots and is intended to make it easier for truck customers to get started with e-mobility.

Daimler Trucks is already deploying electric trucks with customers worldwide and offers an ecosystem including advice and infrastructure services for electric truck customers. In addition, the E-Mobility Group of Daimler Trucks & Buses is launching an initiative for the development of charging infrastructure for battery-electric trucks. The initial focus is on charging stations that will be installed at truck customers' depots. In addition, the participants are working on optimized load management of the power grid and the sustainable supply of electricity.

Both workshops and the first pilot projects have already been implemented and others are currently in the preparation phase. Gesa Reimelt, Head of E-Mobility Group Daimler Trucks & Buses, says: "We are taking an active role in driving forward the transition to battery-electric road freight transport - even beyond our e-trucks and advisory services. To this end, we are now setting the course for the development of the necessary infrastructure together with all those involved." The focus of activities is currently on the USA and Europe, with expansion to Japan to follow.
