Green logistics on the road

Logistics services with a sustainable, "green" approach are becoming increasingly important. Some of the latest developments were presented by companies at "transport logistic" at the beginning of June at the joint stand of the capital region.

The economic development agencies of the states of Berlin and Brandenburg support the logistics industry in the field of electromobility and other sustainable technologies through the Transport, Mobility & Logistics Cluster, which provided a platform for networking, innovation and the presentation of current projects at the trade fair.

Knowledge platform for fleet operators
Various players presented their ideas at the forum. These included the Institute of Transport Research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Berlin-Adlershof, which aims to offer an ICT-based knowledge and information platform for fleet operators via the EU-funded EUFAL (Electric urban freight and logistics) project. This is intended to contribute to the solution of topic-specific company inquiries for mixed and purely electric vehicle fleets. The platform is due to go online at the end of the year and will provide support at various stages of the decision-making process.

Alternative drives for the last mile
Rhenus Home Delivery also relies on alternative drive systems. The company uses several battery-powered Fuso eCanter vehicles, an Iveco Daily NP with natural gas drive and a Fiat Ducato Natural Power, which can be powered by both natural gas and petrol, for the last mile in the Berlin city area.
