All jobs will be retained
B-LOG takes over Bremen-based traditional forwarding company Diedrich Meyer
B-LOG Bulk Logistik GmbH is the new shareholder of Diedrich Meyer GmbH & Co. With effect from March 2021, the joint venture between the Brake-based L.I.T. Group and port logistics company J. MÜLLER Weser GmbH & Co. KG has taken over the business operations of the insolvent freight forwarder.
With this acquisition, the business cooperation is not only saving a traditional Bremen company, but is also expanding its own range of services. The pooling of resources in port logistics for green coffee with transport and contract logistics will enable B-LOG to offer all relevant services from a single source in future. All employees of Spedition Diedrich Meyer will be taken over.
"With the joint venture and the takeover, we are playing the full range of coffee logistics and are pursuing the goal of becoming one of the most important players on the Bremen market," says Ingo Schreiber, Managing Director of L.I.T. Cargo GmbH and CEO of L.I.T. AG.
Founded in 1897, the forwarding company Diedrich Meyer specializes in container transport and electric tipper chassis. In the local and long-distance transport sector, these were most recently mapped with container and bulk goods transportation. In addition, the fifth-generation family business in Bremen also offered the storage and unloading of overseas containers or palletized goods in open-air warehouses. "The range of services is a perfect fit for B-LOG and complements our portfolio perfectly. From now on, we cover all coffee logistics services from a single source," says Managing Director of B-LOG Bulk Logistik GmbH Matthias Seidel.
Due to liquidity problems caused by declining sales and payment delays as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Spedition Diedrich Meyer filed for insolvency in December 2020. The current 22 employees of Spedition Diedrich Meyer will be taken on.
