Amazon hires over 10,000 seasonal workers in Germany
Amazon has announced that the company will hire over 10,000 seasonal employees in its logistics operations in Germany during the Christmas period.
We are looking for logistics centers, sorting centers and distribution centers. Amazon has already introduced the entry-level wage of the equivalent of 12 euros gross per hour, which is a reality for most Amazon employees; depending on the region and location, it may be more.
"We prepare for the holiday season all year round and are excited to hire more than 10,000 seasonal colleagues this year to help us delight our customers," says Norbert Brandau, Interim Regional Director Amazon Operations Germany. "We look forward to welcoming back seasonal employees who return to Amazon year after year and welcoming new faces to the team."
In addition to the more than 19,000 permanent employees at the German Amazon locations, the seasonal workers will assist with picking, packing and delivering customer orders during the Christmas season. Within the last year, Amazon has already created 3,000 new permanent positions in its German logistics network.
Benjamin Wehbring, Head of the Ludwigshafen Employment Agency: "We have been working closely with the company since Amazon set up in Frankenthal and have been able to place many people. The jobs for seasonal workers are a good opportunity for many people to take their first steps into a career or to bridge the gap in terms of employment. A seasonal job has often been the start of permanent employment."
