Starting signal for Panattoni Park Cologne II
Project developer Panattoni Germany heralded the redevelopment of the former Ford site in Cologne-Niehl with a demolition party. A special highlight for the guests was the opportunity to drive excavators themselves, symbolically giving the starting signal for the redevelopment of the site. Following the demolition of the buildings, a modern logistics and industrial property with around 35,000 m² of usable space will be built there in the coming months.
The 62,000 square meter site on the banks of the Rhine was used by the Ford plants for prototype production for several decades. Panattoni Park Köln II will now be built there. The logistics and industrial property is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2025. "The transformation here on site has begun," says Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni Germany and Austria. "The demolition of the old buildings marks an important step into the future. Over the next few months, the industrial wasteland will be transformed into a modern and sustainable logistics hub."
The demolition party attracted numerous guests, including Dr. Manfred Janssen, Managing Director of KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderung. Anja Moses, Head of Leasing at Panattoni Germany, welcomed the attendees and presented the company's ambitious plans for the location. Dr. Janssen referred to the future prospects of Cologne as a business location and emphasized the strategic importance of the new Panattoni Park for industrial development in Cologne's Niehl district. "Cologne is one of the leading logistics locations in Germany. Thanks to its central and convenient location in Europe, the city is particularly attractive for international trade," said the Managing Director of KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderung. "Panattoni is using this potential for several projects in our metropolis and enriching it with a high-quality logistics offering. Panattoni Park Köln II, with its location in a multimodal environment, creates space for companies that want to grow and thus strengthens the business location as a whole."
DGNB platinum certification aimed for
Panattoni Germany is pursuing a green building concept for this project. Numerous sustainability measures are being implemented to ensure an optimized eco-balance and a lowCO2 footprint. One of the goals for this project is to achieve DGNB Platinum certification.
The site is located in the immediate vicinity of Niehl harbor and not far from Cologne city center. It is also directly connected to the A1 federal highway. In addition to over 115 parking spaces for cars and 6 for trucks, the site will also have 90 bicycle parking spaces in future.
International real estate consultants CBRE are responsible for marketing the approximately 35,000 m² of space.
