Nagel-Group celebrates ground-breaking ceremony: New logistics hub in Thuringia

Nagel-Group celebrated the start of construction of a sustainable logistics property in Gotha-Emleben with a ground-breaking ceremony - together with OFB Projektentwicklung GmbH, which is implementing the construction project, and Philipp Kalisch, Mayor of the municipality of Emleben. Completion of the warehouse site with around 35,000 pallet spaces is planned for October 2025.

Around 21,000 m² of logistics, office, social and technical space will be created. The logistics property planned on the 35,000 m² site will be occupied entirely by the Nagel-Group. The new warehouse for the ambient sector will primarily be used to supply a confectionery manufacturer in the region. Nagel-Group already operates two logistics sites in Emleben and the neighboring district town of Gotha, where foodstuffs in all temperature ranges are stored and handled. "The Gotha-Emleben site specializes in handling temperature-sensitive confectionery products. In addition to storage, we also provide a wide range of value-added services for our customers, such as display construction, packaging and the removal of samples," explains Markus Dresel, Area Manager South at Nagel-Group.

Use of sustainable technologies and environmentally friendly construction methods

DGNB Gold certification and an EU Taxonomy-compliant design are being sought for the logistics hub in Gotha-Emleben. "Sustainability is an integral part of the development of our logistics properties," says André Pleines, Executive Director Real Estate at Nagel-Group. "On the basis of innovative technologies and environmentally friendly construction methods, we are creating an infrastructure that is both ecologically and economically sustainable."

The sustainability measures at the new property include the exclusive use of air-to-water heat pumps for heating and cooling, LED lighting and a photovoltaic system on the roof, which is used either to supply energy or to feed into the power grid. The system covers around 8,800 m² and saves around 870 tons of carbon dioxide per year compared to conventional energy generation.
