New central warehouse
Beckhoff expands its logistics capacities
The Verl-based company is planning to expand its logistics with a new central warehouse in the Aurea industrial estate in Rheda-Wiedenbrück. At the same time, Beckhoff continues to plan the expansion and new construction of its production facilities in the emerging Varensell intermunicipal industrial estate.
In addition to its construction projects near the company headquarters in Verl, Beckhoff is planning a logistics and production facility of around 70,000 square meters in neighbouring Rheda-Wiedenbrück. Around 25,000 square meters of the hall are to be equipped with high-bay warehouses. The building is being developed by real estate investor and developer Dietz in coordination with Beckhoff and will be leased by Beckhoff on a long-term basis. "We are delighted to have Dietz AG at our side as a competent partner with a wealth of experience in the logistics sector. We are currently in the joint planning phase. The building is expected to be completed and occupied by us at the end of 2025," reports Hans Beckhoff, Managing Owner of Beckhoff Automation. The space was brokered by logistics real estate consultant Logivest.
Central dispatch in Rheda-Wiedenbrück from the end of 2025
In particular, the Beckhoff central dispatch department is to be located in the new building. This will be supplied with finished products from all Beckhoff production areas. "All European customers will receive their ordered products directly from the central warehouse. Outside Europe, our branches and distributors are supplied from the central warehouse," explains Johannes Beckhoff. Frederike Beckhoff adds: "As a rule, we offer our customers rapid provision of products directly from the warehouse with the shortest possible delivery times. This requires storage capacity, which we will also provide with the new central warehouse for possible growth in the coming years."
Planning for new buildings in Verl and Rietberg continues
At the same time, Beckhoff continues to plan the expansion and new construction of its production facilities in the emerging Varensell intermunicipal industrial estate, which will be directly adjacent to the company's current headquarters in Verl-West. The planned administrative campus is also to be built on Gütersloher Straße. "The new property in Rheda-Wiedenbrück will give us considerable additional space to complement our production and administration campuses in Rietberg and Verl. This will also help us to further develop our company in East Westphalia-Lippe in the future. Only if we have the necessary spatial capacities will we be able to meet the ever-increasing demand for automation," Johannes Beckhoff continues.
Beckhoff has grown continuously since its foundation in 1980. Since 2000, the company has increased its turnover by an average of 15 percent every year. In 2022, it achieved a turnover of 1.515 billion euros with around 6,000 employees worldwide. Beckhoff intends to continue this growth trajectory in the future. The company's automation technology is used in almost all industries: classic mechanical engineering, wind turbines and battery cell production, the process and entertainment industry and intelligent building control systems are just a few examples.
