Kalmar: World premiere: electric forklift up to 18 tons load capacity
Kalmar, the industrial truck manufacturer belonging to the Cargotec Group, has presented a new series of electric front loaders in the load capacity class from nine to 18 tons. The machines, which can be optionally equipped with lithium-ion batteries, were developed to series maturity at the Ljungby development center and are produced in the state-of-the-art factory in Poland.
Kalmar wants to make it easier for its customers to switch to environmentally friendly technologies. Kalmar is the first forklift truck manufacturer in the world to offer series vehicles in this load capacity class. The trucks combine the performance data of diesel forklifts with the advantages of electric forklifts: lower noise emissions, less vibration at the driver's station and very quiet operation. The operating costs of the new electric forklifts are significantly lower than those of comparable diesel forklifts. Payback periods of two years are realistic for these trucks. With conventional lead-acid batteries, the machines can easily work an eight-hour shift - the new lithium-ion batteries make them fit for multi-shift operation. The EGO cab offers drivers the most space in its class. It is very quiet, has large areas of glazing and also offers a workplace that can be adapted to any application with a 180° swivel seat and many other additional features. The controls can be adjusted according to the driver's wishes, with numerous options such as control levers, fingertips and joysticks available for controlling the mast. The truck's hydraulic system responds very sensitively to the driver's commands.
