Batteries used gently in the refrigeration sector

Extreme temperatures often make everyday work in logistics more difficult. To cope with this, Fronius Perfect Charging has developed a Cold Logistics option for its Selectiva battery chargers.

An uninterrupted cold chain is essential for the storage and transportation of fresh and frozen products - especially in hot summer temperatures, many logistics companies struggle with this. However, the low ambient temperatures that prevail in refrigerated areas also pose major challenges for traction batteries and operators of electric industrial trucks.

Low temperatures drastically reduce the performance and service life of traction batteries. In most cases, their energy is then no longer sufficient for a complete shift. At minus 15 degrees, for example, batteries only have a capacity of around 60 percent. To counteract this drop in performance, Fronius offers a specially developed Cold Logistics option for its Selectiva 4.0 chargers. The charger with preset temperature sensor automatically selects the right amount of energy to optimally charge the battery. The battery and truck are therefore constantly ready for use without long waiting times.

Thanks to the Fronius RI charging process, the Selectiva devices flexibly charge lead-acid batteries with different sizes, voltages or capacities - this simplifies allocation and reduces operating errors. Additional special functions such as the Cold Logistics option enable industrial trucks to be operated reliably even in difficult environments.
