PLANT-MY-TREE" environmental project

Martin Schrüfer,

Still will soon have its own forest

The Hamburg-based intralogistics provider Still is supporting the Plant-My-Tree reforestation project. On November 18, the first of a total of 1,000 trees were planted in the reforestation area in Hohenaspe near Itzehoe. There, on the "Still forest plot", they will grow for at least 100 years and compensate for exhaust gases.

"We want to make our contribution to the extremely important issue of sustainability and were looking for appropriate opportunities," says Michael Quest, Head of the Still head office in Hanover/Bielefeld, explaining how the company came to participate in the project. His sales manager Sven Budelmann brought up the reforestation campaigns of the Plant-My-Tree initiative. "We were immediately enthusiastic about the idea and quickly decided to participate with 1,000 trees," says Michael Quest, adding: "In my opinion, the preservation of an intact environment is the basis of our existence. Accordingly, we feel obliged to use natural resources responsibly. Still already observes this principle when developing new products by considering their impact on the environment at an early stage."

Do good and talk about it

But that's not all: customers of the Hanover/Bielefeld head office were also able to take part in the environmentally friendly campaign. "Customers who ordered new electric forklifts from us and decommissioned their IC engine-powered forklifts in return received personalized tree certificates as a small thank you. They can display these certificates in their company premises to show that they think and act in an environmentally conscious manner," explains Sven Budelmann. The Still branch manager and his sales manager plan to give further tree certificates during the upcoming Advent season to those customers who have remained loyal to them over the past few months during the coronavirus crisis.

No participation in the tree planting

Michael Quest's basic ecological attitude also prevented him from attending today's tree planting event in Hohenaspe in person. Quest: "Of course we would all have liked to have been there and seen the site where our 1,000 trees will now stand guard for at least 100 years. However, we would have had to travel several hours to do so. But that is anything but ecological and contradicts our attitude to climate protection." For this reason, Mikinari Oki, Head of the Hamburg/Bremen head office, and Andre Jacques, Regional Service Manager, were on site as representatives of Still GmbH during the tree planting campaign in Schleswig-Holstein.
