Career starters begin their training and studies in six apprenticeships and three dual study programs. For the first time, Still is also supporting the dual study program "Computer Engineering & IT Engineering".

The Still training team welcomes the new recruits with the traditional "Welcome Day" at the Hamburg headquarters. The event is also streamed to all branches. The new arrivals are given an impression of the company, its products and its philosophy and get to know each other over a barbecue at the end of the day. This will be followed in the coming weeks by initial insights into the various professional and learning environments, team-building activities, briefings on current safety and prevention standards and a one-week forklift construction seminar.

Training at the highest level: the innovators of tomorrow

"Rarely has the training of qualified junior staff been as important as it is at the moment," emphasizes Jan Wehlen, Head of Training at Still. "We need competent, smart and innovative specialists to successfully meet future business challenges, from energy and sustainability to new technologies in the field of automation and robotics. We at Still are very aware of this responsibility. However, we also see the great opportunity for us and the entire industry to help shape society through qualified specialists. Accordingly, training young talent is a top priority for us."
In recent years, Still has proven many times that this is not an empty promise: with an excellent training program, dedicated trainers and a wide range of qualification opportunities. Still regularly receives awards for the high quality of its training. As part of the "Hamburg's best training companies" certification, Still has already been awarded the maximum score of five stars seven times. The company's own hiring rate also speaks for itself: all 36 graduates from this year's graduating class have been offered a job or a place on a further course of study at Still.

Two years of pandemic: school leavers barely prepared for their career choice

Despite its high reputation as a training company, this year's recruitment of new trainees and students presented Still with major challenges for the first time. "During the application phase, we clearly noticed that career and study guidance at schools has only taken place to a limited extent over the past two years. As a result, many young adults are now inadequately prepared for their career choice," explains Jan Wehlen. "We are therefore all the more pleased that we have been able to award our apprenticeships and study places to highly motivated young people, who we are now accompanying on their exciting and varied path into intralogistics."

35 new trainees and dual students for Still in Hamburg

At Still's company headquarters in Hamburg, 29 apprentices start their training today in six different professions: from mechatronics and industrial mechanics to industrial clerk. Among them is a trainee in construction mechanics for the first time. "Unfortunately, female trainees are still rare in technical professions," says Jan Wehlen. "We are therefore delighted to welcome a female apprentice in the field of construction mechanics for the first time this year. We hope that we can inspire even more young women to take up technical jobs in the future." Six young adults are also starting their dual studies in Hamburg. In addition to "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology" and "Mechatronics", the "Computer Engineering & IT Engineering" course is also represented for the first time. Here, Nordakademie students learn how to answer the complex questions of the digitalized economy, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things - skills that will not only be indispensable for the intralogistics industry in the future.204 young talents at nine locations throughout Germany will qualify in seven different apprenticeships and nine dual study courses at the start of the 2022 training year.
