Optimize power consumption
Fronius Perfect Charging offers an effective tool for intralogistics to sustainably optimize power consumption. With the "Load Balancing" function of the Charge & Connect software solution, fleet managers can reduce power peaks when charging lead-acid batteries and thus lower their energy costs.
Energy prices are rising and it is vital for companies to optimize their electricity consumption. One cost driver is power peaks. They occur when many consumers draw electricity at the same time - for example, when several lead-acid batteries of the electric forklift fleet are charged at the same time. This short-term heavy load on the grid can lead to the agreed power quota being exceeded, resulting in expensive additional payments and higher grid provision fees. Fronius Perfect Charging has developed a solution for this: The Load Balancing function of the established Charge & Connect networking software offers the option of smoothing load peaks when charging lead-acid traction batteries. This prevents short-term overloads and reduces energy costs. The availability of the fleet is guaranteed.
Intelligent charging algorithm
"Load smoothing runs automatically - thanks to our intelligent charging algorithm. As soon as the function is activated in the Charge & Connect portal, the fleet operator can set parameters such as shift model and battery availability requirements," explains Andreas Prielinger, Head of R&D, Perfect Charging business unit.
The software analyzes the charging process and defines the optimum and most energy-efficient charging strategy - be it stretches, staggered charging or a combination of both. This means that the required number of fully charged batteries is available at all times without generating large power peaks. The fact that charging can be individually adapted to requirements and additional charging stations or rooms can be flexibly expanded also offers significant advantages. "Load balancing is therefore a simple and efficient tool for every industrial truck fleet operator to keep the base load of the charging infrastructure as constant as possible and to sustainably reduce power consumption and the resulting costs," says Prielinger, summing up the advantages.
