KION Group achieves significant order growth
In the second quarter of 2018, the KION Group benefited from the continued dynamic growth in the markets for industrial trucks and supply chain solutions. The Group increased its order intake significantly by 23 per cent to €2.424 billion. The project business for automated systems made a particular contribution to this. Turnover rose by 1.5 percent to 2.031 billion euros in the quarter. The service business increased its share of Group sales from 39.2% to 41.6%.
Cumulatively, KION increased its order intake by 11.9 percent to €4.309 billion in the first half of the year. Revenue grew by 1.9 percent to €3.874 billion. Net income increased by 2.1 percent to 147.7 million euros.
"Our record order intake in the second quarter confirms our excellent position in dynamically growing core markets. The growth drivers in both the industrial trucks segment and the supply chain solutions market are intact and are ensuring that demand remains strong," said Gordon Riske, Chief Executive Officer of the KION Group.
The global market for industrial trucks is experiencing strong growth in all regions. The number of new trucks ordered increased by 15.4% in the first half of the year. The market environment for warehouse systems and automation solutions continues to be characterized by the rapidly growing e-commerce sector and the increased use of Industry 4.0 technologies. Companies are continuing to invest in the expansion and optimization of their warehouse capacities and in automated warehouse systems. mm
