Jungheinrich employees donate 31,000 euros for Corona aid

Every cent counts! Every year, Jungheinrich employees donate the cents after the decimal point on their monthly pay slip to the German medical aid organization action medeor e. V. With this year's donation - a sum of around 31,000 euros was raised - the aid organization is expanding its medical aid in Tanzania and Congo against the backdrop of the corona pandemic.

Jungheinrich's Restcent campaign, in which employees can participate voluntarily, has been running since 2012. In addition to Germany, Jungheinrich employees from Austria, Spain, Portugal and Italy also take part. In total, around 200,000 euros have already been donated to action medeor in this way. In addition, Jungheinrich has been supporting the "emergency pharmacy of the world", as the aid organization is also known, for years in various aid projects with donations in kind and money as well as with technical know-how. For example, Jungheinrich has already been able to equip a medicine warehouse in Tanzania and Malawi with materials and expand the warehouse at the headquarters in Tönisvorst.

This year's Restcent donation will support action medeor's cooperation with its partner Christian Social Service Commission (CSSC) in Tanzania, to which 57 hospitals are affiliated. Each of them will receive oxygen concentrators for the treatment of moderately ill Covid-19 patients who need to be treated with supplemental oxygen. In addition, protective materials such as disinfectants, masks, goggles and gowns are being procured. Secondly, action medeor is working together with the organization Association des Femmes pour la Promotion et le Développement Endogène asbl (AFPDE) to improve the health, sanitation and drinking water supply for Burundian refugees and the local population in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. To this end, extensive activities have been defined, including the provision of medicines, consumables and medical supplies for health stations in the project area. In addition, the project was expanded to include measures to protect against the coronavirus.
