The factories in Craigavon, Northern Ireland, in Masate near Milan in Italy and in Nijmegen in the Netherlands are open again. The relevant hygiene measures and social distancing rules apply at all sites. New processes are also intended to optimize the efficiency of workflows.

"Over the past few months, our employees have adjusted to a 'new normal'," says Wim van Dam, Vice President Manufacturing & Logistics EMEA at Hyster Europe. "For example, work has been shifted to the home office where possible. Finding solutions together during this time was an important experience for our team. We found ways to introduce new ways of working to meet the demands of the market."

Hyster has worked closely with its suppliers to minimize disruption to the supply chain to allow production to resume. "The work of our employees is also crucial when it comes to providing our customers with the quality they are accustomed to," explains van Dam. "We are also very grateful for the government support that has enabled us to retain our workforce."

As the pandemic spreads, Hyster is continuously adapting its processes and policies to protect its employees while meeting customer needs. The company plans to gradually enable more employees to return to work. The applicable health, safety and occupational health guidelines of the authorities in the respective countries will be taken into account.
