Forklift trucks
Fuel cell systems from Still presented
From next year, the Hamburg-based company will be producing fuel cell systems in its own factory and, thanks to a cooperation agreement, will also be able to offer its customers everything from a single source when it comes to hydrogen infrastructure.
Hamburg-based intralogistics provider Still will be launching its own 24-volt fuel cell system for warehouse trucks next year, which will be produced at its main plant in Hamburg. This will make Still the first original equipment manufacturer on the European market to produce fuel cell systems - so-called "Battery Replacement Modules" - in-house. "Fuel cell technology is definitely Still's most innovative mainstay at the moment," explains Frank Müller, Senior Vice President Still Brand Management. "Particularly in view of the current crises, we believe this technology has great potential."
"One face to the customer" - holistic approach
In order to provide its customers with comprehensive advice and support when it comes to fuel cell technology, Still has entered into a partnership with Hydrogentle GmbH, a Hamburg-based engineering firm that plans special plant construction, prepares feasibility studies and advises customers on hydrogen infrastructure. "With the support of hydrogen specialist Hydrogentle, we can now offer a holistic approach to fuel cells in the interests of our customers," says Müller. Holistic means that with Still, the customer only needs one point of contact: The provision of high-quality industrial trucks that are "Fuell Cell Ready", the fuel cell, the service and the entire hydrogen infrastructure - everything comes from a single source.
Hydrogentle GmbH, based in the Port of Hamburg, develops and implements projects and concepts in the field of green hydrogen and supports its customers. Hydrogentle also pursues a holistic approach: consulting, evaluation and individual site assessment as well as planning, project planning and implementation. At the customer's request, Hydrogentle provides support right through to the handover of a complete hydrogen infrastructure for refueling industrial trucks and other vehicles. "Hydrogen in all its facets is complicated," says Axel Poblotzki, Managing Director of Hydrogentle GmbH. "We simplify the topic and make hydrogen-based solutions tangible at any scale."
Hydrogen as a technology suitable for everyday use
The "one face to the customer" approach is particularly important in the context of hydrogen, as the value chain from production to refueling hydrogen is long and complex. Different suppliers and trades have to be coordinated like Swiss clockwork. This is where Hydrogentle comes in and develops solutions for customers that are suitable for everyday use. The focus here is on the technical, legal and economic feasibility of projects and concepts. "The cooperation between our two companies will significantly simplify consulting, the installation of infrastructure and the operation of fuel cell-powered forklifts for our customers," says Frank Müller. "We are delighted to have Hydrogentle as a partner."
The cooperation with Hydrogentle is the final and decisive building block for Still to now proactively offer fuel cell technology on the market. This means that industrial trucks from Still are no longer just "Li-Ion Ready", but also "Fuel Cell Ready". This means that the customer can choose between the various energy sources without being tied to a specific vehicle. In addition, Still offers its customers "full service" for vehicles and batteries or fuel cells, a very robust system architecture and low downtimes. Perfect system integration leads to a high level of acceptance of the new technology and thus to the development of an extensive hydrogen infrastructure by Still's partner Hydrogentle - with Still, everything from a single source.
