Machine manufacturer Kaup improves its beer keg clamp

The beer keg clamp is ideal for transporting stainless steel barrels - so-called kegs. More than one hundred of the beer keg clamps were recently ordered by the British logistics service provider Kühne+Nagel Drink Logistik and are now in use at the logistics center in Wakefield, England.

Double pallet device, telescopic fork and rotating roller clamp are the latest redesigned attachments from Kaup GmbH & Co KG. Less well known, but also fundamentally revised, is the beer keg clamp from the Aschaffenburg-based machine manufacturer. More than one hundred of these clamps have found their way to the British Isles in recent months. They are being used there by the logistics service provider Kühne+Nagel Drink Logistik (KDNL). The clamps with the name 2T415B can transport 18 full or empty beer barrels - the kegs - with just one pick-up - in one go, so to speak.

Kegs are stacked on top of each other

Kegs are cylindrical, reusable stainless steel containers. They are often used in beverage logistics for the hygienic transportation and simple storage of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. As a rule, they are not stored and transported on pallets, but directly on top of each other. This opens up a field of application for the beer keg clamp from Kaup. This is why beer keg clamps have been part of the Kaup range for many years.

Kaup has now responded to changing customer and market requirements by making a few small but effective changes to the design. The most serious of these is the replacement of the profiles. This means that the profiles that were previously at the bottom are now at the top. And vice versa. But what are the benefits of this change? The answer is clear: a significantly improved view of the load - mostly 50-liter kegs. But smaller kegs can also be transported with the beer keg clamp.

Praise from the forklift drivers

When revising the clamp, Kaup sought the opinion of forklift drivers at an early stage in order to incorporate their requirements into the new beer keg clamp. And the result is convincing. At least that's how the forklift drivers from Wakefield in the UK, who use some of the numerous new devices for KDNL, see it. One driver praises the responsiveness of the 2T415B: "The clamp reacts very quickly. Which is good, because it means I can control the truck quickly and safely." For him, "the new clamps are much better than the old ones."

Coupled with a reduced front boom dimension and the narrower overall width, this is an all-round convincing attachment on the market. In addition, the 2T415B can also be used to handle standard Euro pallets. All it takes is a few simple steps to remove the middle tine of the clamp. It is then possible to pick up Euro pallets lengthways.
