New in-store system

Premiere for "Project RetailCX" by KHT and Knapp

Under the leadership of Knapp subsidiary KHT, an in-store system has been developed that combines the advantages of online stores and bricks-and-mortar stores. The solution can be used in almost all retail sectors, from drugstores, shoe and jewelry stores to specialist craft stores. It will be presented for the first time at a trade fair at EuroShop in Düsseldorf from February 16 to 20.

"Retailers can only meet the changing shopping behavior of consumers as a result of e-commerce if they upgrade their stores technically. With our in-store systems, we offer the technological framework to provide customers with an attractive shopping experience," says Christian Bauer, Managing Director of KHT. The development of the solutions is being realized as part of the "Project Retail CX" project under the leadership of KHT. Employees, technologies and solutions from the entire Knapp Group, to which KHT also belongs, have been pooled there. "The retail industry is currently in the midst of a revolution similar to the one brought about by the introduction of the barcode more than 40 years ago. We are helping retailers to keep pace with this development," says Bauer. The solution is a modern in-store system. It is a combination of robotics, digital solutions and software, which is available as a stand-alone and fully integrated version.

The hardware is based on a storage robot that stores and retrieves products fully automatically. Storage is space-saving and theft-proof. Interactive screens can be connected to the robot, which employees and/or customers can use to access the products. Finally, the goods can be removed from the output compartments. There are also extensions such as the "ActiveShelf" interactive shelf and a 24/7 terminal installed on the outside of the store, where customers can shop regardless of opening hours.

The software offers various configuration options and all interfaces for connecting customers' merchandise management and cash register systems.

The system will be presented to the public at the Knapp stand at EuroShop (Hall 3, Stand H94). In addition, Rudolf Hansl, Managing Director of Knapp Systemintegration GmbH, and Bernd Stöger, Executive Product Manager at Knapp AG, will be giving specialist presentations on February 18 and 19 on the topic of "Micro Fulfillment as an automated solution for online grocery retail in urban areas".
