Successful LogiMAT premiere
Omnipick was well received by trade fair visitors
Austrian intralogistics specialist TGW celebrated the world premiere of its new OmniPick pocket sorter solution at the LogiMAT 2019 intralogistics trade fair in Stuttgart. The innovation is based on findings from the fields of artificial intelligence and smart robotics - and offers answers to the challenges of omni-channel and e-commerce.
Under the motto "Master the Unpredictable", the new pocket sorter solution was at the heart of the TGW trade fair stand. Numerous international trade visitors and media representatives took a look at the demo system in Hall 5. "Especially with a complex solution, it is a great advantage to be able to physically represent the system and thus make the functional principle tangible," emphasizes Christoph Wolkerstorfer, CSO of the TGW Logistics Group. "This was also confirmed in the many discussions with trade visitors. Logistics and supply chain managers are faced with the major challenge of having to master increasingly unpredictable situations. OmniPick offers the right answer to this uncertainty."
How OmniPick works: one item is placed in each bag - whether clothing, shoes, electronics, toys or cosmetics. Items of clothing hanging on hangers can also be processed between the pockets. The dynamic system not only allows goods to be transported, but also buffered, sorted and distributed efficiently and quickly. This is particularly important for the growing e-commerce sector: returns can be buffered and quickly retrieved when a new order is placed, making order picking superfluous.
In contrast to other systems, OmniPick is characterized by automatic loading by robot as well as automatic unloading. "This design makes OmniPick a zero-touch system. Users can adapt quickly and flexibly to changing business scenarios or a changing order structure. And all while maintaining a consistently high level of efficiency, productivity and dynamism," says Wolkerstorfer. The primary target groups for the innovative solution are therefore not just fashion companies, but also pure e-commerce players and specialists for omni-channel fulfillment in other sectors.
