First Gebhardt SpeedSorter in operation at flaconi

In autumn 2020, the Gebhardt Intralogistics Group was awarded the contract to implement the parcel conveying and sorting system at online beauty pure player flaconi. Part of the new logistics center is the connection of the new Gebhardt SpeedSorter to the material flow system including PLC control. After nine months, the fast-growing retailer can now react flexibly to customer-specific orders on an area of 28,000 m2 at the Halle site.

The online store's portfolio consists of over 850 international brands and 55,000 products. With the categories perfume, skincare, make-up, haircare and accessories, flaconi covers all product segments from drugstore to natural cosmetics to premium. With the construction of the new fulfillment center, flaconi has now created the conditions to further expand its ongoing growth and to be able to react to future market requirements in a scalable manner.

The requirement for awarding the project to Gebhardt was to incorporate the strong growth into the intralogistics concept and thus offer a tailor-made solution. The scope of supply and services included 305 meters of conveyor technology for commissioning, the new SpeedSorter developed according to the crossbelt sorter principle, the GEBHARDT StoreWare material flow system and the PLC control system.

A large packaging area has been created, which basically consists of the transport of parcels, automated sorting technology and a total of 140 workstations on five pick-up lines. In future, more than 11,000 parcels per hour can be delivered to the dispatch area.

"Thanks to the Gebhardt SpeedSorter, we are now in a position to position ourselves even better internationally and to sort all common European CEP service providers without any additional effort. Ultimately, this will help us to further pursue and scale our business model," says Kurt-Alexander Westphal, Team Lead Operations Excellence at flaconi.

Hans Kratz, Team Leader Sales Sorting Technology, adds: "We are delighted that our product portfolio and the developed solution concept have convinced flaconi and that the company is now ideally equipped for the future thanks to innovative automation."
