Dematic builds for deep-freeze specialist Agristo
Dematic is installing a fully automated high-bay warehouse in Agristo's deep-freeze warehouse in Wielsbeke, Belgium - Agristo's fourth consecutive order for Dematic.
This is the fourth time that Agristo N.V., a manufacturer of pre-fried and deep-frozen potato products, has placed an order with the automation technology provider. "The fact that Agristo has placed its trust in our expertise and the performance of our systems for the fourth time in a row demonstrates Dematic's customer-oriented and high-quality work," comments Carlos Bruneel, Project Manager at Dematic. As part of the expansion of the Agristo site in Wielsbeke, Belgium, Dematic is also integrating a modern transport system consisting of eight pallet cranes and lifts as well as a conveyor system.
Automated - from storage to delivery
The intelligent warehouse management system WMS from Dematic takes over the control of the material flow and, according to the company, enables a 35 percent increase in productivity. Agristo automates all logistics processes from storage to delivery to the trucks.
The high-bay warehouse is due to be completed and put into operation in October. The conveyor system has a high-bay warehouse with eight aisles, each of which is served by pallet cranes. Telescopic forks are used to automatically store and retrieve goods. Pallet lifts then take the products to the conveyor belts, where they are either transported to the picking stations or to dispatch. "With the fully automated high-bay warehouse, Agristo has full control over its entire logistics and keeps both time and costs to a minimum," explains Bruneel.
