Container in focus: SSI Schäfer
Containers are always needed in intralogistics - even during the coronavirus pandemic? Editor-in-chief Martin Schrüfer asked three major container manufacturers how they are getting through the crisis and which products they want to use to score points in the future.
materialfluss: The coronavirus pandemic has really shaken up the market. How is your company currently doing and which of your products gave you the most economic pleasure in 2020?
Christine Jorzik: After a good start to 2020, the container business has gradually picked up again after the lockdown. In some sectors, companies are still reacting cautiously, while in others demand has increased or companies have used this time to optimize their container, storage, transport and automation processes. Overall, we were able to win many exciting projects for SSI Schaefer. Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, there is a growing interest in expanding and automating existing warehouses and making them more efficient and modern. Companies are keen to escape a degree of dependency on a supply chain that is too tight. We support these companies as a partner with our products and expertise.
mfl: What new products or further developments can readers of materialfluss expect in the first quarter of 2021?
Jorzik: We won't be talking about specific new products until next year, possibly at the LogiMAT trade fair. We always focus on our customers and the markets in which they operate. In 2021, we will once again develop and implement the best container solution for each customer application. Our enormous product range, from manual to automated systems and equipment, our decades of experience as well as our close networking and global presence - we will be putting all of this to good use again in 2021 so that our customers can benefit even more.
