Order picking
Efficient picking at medium shelf height
With the Linde V modular B vertical order picker, Linde Material Handling is launching a new high-rack stacker onto the market. With this man-up device, the goods handling specialist is expanding its product range for wide and narrow aisle warehouses.
Many warehouse operators solve the need for additional storage space by increasing the shelving and extending one or two levels upwards. At the same time, the requirements for the vehicles used are also increasing: the required reach heights are over seven meters, which requires a stable chassis as well as an ergonomic and safe working environment so that the operators can concentrate fully on the picking process. "Picking is the value-adding activity in the warehouse and therefore the core business," summarizes Matthias Holzwarth, Product Manager VNA Appliances. "With the new Linde V modular B high-bay stacker, we are offering our customers a powerful and cost-efficient solution for precisely these requirements."
With a load capacity of 1,000 kilograms and a reach height of up to 7.83 meters, the vehicles meet customer requirements such as those found in online retail, small parts logistics in distribution centers or in factory supermarkets. They are essentially based on the series of the big brother V modular, whereby the "B" in the model designation, "Best Value", indicates that only the necessary equipment features for this reach height have been integrated.
The maximum driving speed of 11 km/h ensures fast forward movement. The vibration-damped cab, which is decoupled from the chassis, offers comfort. A soft mat absorbs vibrations when driving with the mast raised, while the driver has a secure hold on the solid surface at the edge of the cab floor when order picking. The low parapet of the driver's cab makes it easy and safe to reach goods from the racking, and there is an optional outward tilting function for the extra centimetres of freedom of movement into the racking that are so often required. The mast design provides a good view of the warehouse environment, and the electric steering makes the truck easy and precise to maneuver. Thanks to the modular vehicle concept, the vertical order pickers can be individually adapted to different customer requirements. Depending on the power requirements, for example, a 24-volt and a 48-volt motor are available.
The Linde V modular B has various features to ensure safety. For safety reasons, the truck can only be moved when the driver is touching the sensors on the control unit with both hands and standing with his feet on the dead man's switch. The driver's platform can only move above a height of 1.2 meters if the electrically monitored side barriers are closed. To prevent collisions with ceilings and walls, travel speeds and lifting heights can be individually adapted to local conditions by the service technician. For narrow aisle applications, a scanner is available in the drive and load direction to detect people and obstacles. In an emergency, the personnel protection system actively intervenes in drive mode to prevent collisions.
