Volkswagen OTLG relies on Mobile Easykey (Advertorial)

In Dieburg near Frankfurt am Main, the "Golden Transponder" was handed over at the end of the introduction of Mobile Easykey at Volkswagen Original Parts Logistics. VW OTLG has currently equipped 487 forklift trucks throughout Germany with the Mobile Easykey fleet management system and has thus been able to reduce the costs caused by violent damage by 40 percent.

Hasso Lotz, responsible for operational process and system management at VW OTLG, expressed his thanks at the handover for the savings achieved in a very short space of time: In addition to the reduction in violent damage, the fleet was reduced by 15 percent. The new dynamic maintenance planning has also resulted in savings of 15 percent. The decision in favor of the European market leader was made in June 2014 after an extensive comparison of two systems and the subsequent test operation of Mobile Easykey.

In addition to selection criteria such as uncomplicated setup, ergonomics, security, service and quality, the focus was on the cost-effectiveness of fleet management. Conclusion of the test company: "The Easykey system from Domnick+Müller not only achieved the higher degree of fulfillment in the overall result, but also in all the main criteria."

"Thanks to the close cooperation with Volkswagen OTLG, even such a large roll-out could be realized in a short time," says Jochen Müller, Managing Director of Domnick+Müller. He also points to the early involvement of the employees and the works council. Concerns can usually be allayed from the outset, as the data generated by Mobile Easykey is not personal. Domnick+Müller benefits here from its many years of experience with large companies such as Volkswagen, Daimler, Lufthansa Cargo and many others.

Adaptive crash sensor

Today, Mobile Easykey is a modular system that started out as a pure access control system. Over the past 15 years, the technology has been developed into a sophisticated fleet management system. Forklift trucks, for example, can be equipped with an "adaptive" crash sensor that is adapted to the individual safety requirements of the company. The patented crash sensor can react in three defined stages and limit the speed of the truck or shut it down completely.

Further highlights are the options for monitoring oil level, water temperature, effective operating hours, electrolyte level, maintenance intervals, battery control and even GPS tracking in outdoor areas. Special module versions are even available for cold stores and explosion-protected areas.

Modular system

Hasso Lotz from VW OTLG: "The modular system allows Mobile Easykey to be used in a targeted manner - according to our individual needs." In particular, the focus will be on the possibilities for improved battery management in the future. In addition to monitoring the electrolyte level, the main aim is to optimize charging cycles with Mobile Easykey.

smart lock for drawbar devices

VW OTLG is considering the introduction of smart lock, which is simply exchanged for the mechanical switch lock on towbar devices and secures the device against unauthorized use at a reasonable cost. smart lock can also be used as an individual solution or for entire fleets. In future, tiller devices can also be integrated into the Mobile Easykey software. Users and devices can be managed intuitively, maintenance planning can be controlled and comprehensive analyses can be created, which generally lead to savings, as VW OTLG was able to realize in a very short time.
