60,000 pallet spaces
SSI Schaefer builds another deep-freeze warehouse for Kloosterboer
Kloosterboer, a logistics service provider, has commissioned SSI Schaefer to supply and handle the steel construction for a deep-freeze warehouse at the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
The logistics service provider offers complete concepts for the temperature-controlled storage and distribution of food, including fish, meat, fruit, fruit juices and fruit concentrates, dairy and potato products. SSI Schäfer has already been a convincing partner in previous joint projects.
A fully automated, deep-frozen logistics center will be built at the City Terminal Rotterdam - the "Cool Port 2". SSI Schaefer is supplying around 4,100 tons of steel and is using it to build the 6-aisle high-bay warehouse with dimensions of 69 m long, 139 m wide and 41 m high. As the high-bay warehouse is being built using the silo construction method, the side walls and finally the roof covering will be attached directly to the steel structure.
The requirements for the British sustainability certificate BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) were also taken into account during the construction of the building. SSI Schaefer has specially designed the roof construction of the high-bay warehouse for a future photovoltaic system. The roof will be able to accommodate 2,700 solar modules. With a storage capacity of 60,000 pallet spaces in "Cool Port 2", Kloosterboer will be able to serve a large number of customers. Construction work on the steel structure began in the fall of 2020, and the racking is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2021. The deep-freeze warehouse is scheduled to open in January 2022.
