K.Handle Layer Picker in use
Körber automates for AG Logistics Services
With the K.Handle Layer Picker, AG Logistics Services is modernizing its logistics services for Kraft Heinz.
Kӧrber has been selected by AG Logistics Services for the automation of its new distribution center (DZ) in Ede (Netherlands). By using Körber's solutions, AG Logistics Services can maintain its characteristic flexibility and customer focus while the company continues to grow strongly.
In the new distribution center, Körber will provide and implement a combination of supply chain software, automation solutions and material handling systems. The K.Handle Layer Picker catches the eye.
While the manufacturer delivers each product to AG Logistics Services on full pallets, supermarkets and other retailers that AG Logistics Services supplies have their own requirements. They want to place deliveries directly in the picking zone in their DC or request deliveries of less than a pallet. With the Layer Picker, AG Logistics Services can do this in no time at all. Repacking is also supported by the compilation of mixed pallets.
Arie Thomassen, Managing Director of AG Logistics Services, emphasizes: "It is important to me to work closely with my customers. I always have an open ear for their ideas. In Ede, we are expanding our services for Kraft Heinz. They also recommended that we consider the possible use of Körber's Layer Picker. This solution fits in perfectly with our efforts to renew our logistics processes. The Layer Picker is characterized by its high capacity and adaptability. It makes it possible to pick product layers from a large number of pallets at the same time and to mix several orders. This was the decisive factor for us, as it allows us to achieve our targeted further growth while maintaining the quality of our services. We deliberately decided against a fully automated distribution center, but we can now do more with fewer people."
Pieter Feenstra, Chief Sales Officer Automation, Körber Business Area Supply Chain, adds: "AG Logistics Services owes its strong growth to its high level of service and accurate deliveries. To maintain this quality, it is important to them that the interaction between employees and the efficiency-enhancing technological solutions is seamless and well received. Managing the complexities of AG Logistics Services means that we are the partner that provides the expertise, advanced software solutions and automation technology to integrate them throughout the ecosystem."
The new AG Logistics Services distribution center is scheduled to open in summer 2021. A large part of the distribution center will be used for services for Kraft Heinz. From Ede, food retailers in the Netherlands and other EU countries will be supplied with Kraft Heinz products on an individual basis.
