Energy recovery
Kasto wants to use energy efficiently in the warehouse
At LogiMAT 2019, sawing and storage technology specialist Kasto will be showcasing a concept for energy recovery and storage in automated storage systems. The system enables excess kinetic energy to be converted into electricity.
Rising electricity prices and increasing scarcity of resources are bringing the issue of energy efficiency in intralogistics into focus. Kasto has therefore developed an innovative concept for its automatic long goods and sheet metal storage systems: In addition to the standard DC link, the systems can also be equipped with an integrated energy storage system on request. Excess kinetic energy, be it when braking the storage and retrieval unit (SRU) or lowering the lifting gear, can thus be converted into electricity, stored temporarily and used flexibly. An intelligent control system charges and discharges the energy storage system depending on the ongoing process.
Kasto will be demonstrating the concept using a Unitower tower storage system at LogiMAT. This is available in two different versions: for storing long goods materials and as Unitower B for sheet metal and flat products as well as containers.
