The two-aisle in-house shelving system with 800 storage locations offers double-deep storage for two industrial pallets per shelf compartment with a maximum pallet weight of 1,400 kg.

Completion of the new building, including the 63 m long, 15.8 m wide and 6.7 m high racking system, is planned for next year. The entire warehouse is designed for different classes of hazardous materials. The areas are separated from each other by fire protection walls, and additional sprinklers prevent any fire from spreading to neighboring storage areas. What makes the new system special is not only its high degree of automation, but also its structural arrangement: the warehouse is located in the basement of the production building. "The two aisle-bound storage and retrieval machines, which Jungheinrich supplies in a two-master design, travel in pits to gain storage height," says Michael Hediger, Head of Logistics Systems Projects at Jungheinrich.

Jungheinrich is also supplying the conveyor and control technology, including the pallet lift, to the Swiss company, which develops fragrances for products such as fine fragrance, body care, air care and also for the home care sector. The automated pallet lift connects all three floors of the overall solution: the automated warehouse in the basement, incoming and outgoing goods on the first floor and production on the second floor. In total, the warehouse will operate around 220 days a year and significantly increase the efficiency of production supply.

The material flow is organized by the Jungheinrich Warehouse Control System (WCS) to efficiently supply LUZI's production with raw materials from the warehouse. The software optimizes the processing of transport orders for the automated system, which were transmitted from the customer's system, to the specified destinations.

"LUZI stands for first-class products, high safety and quality standards as well as competent consulting services," reports Jürg Koller, Global CEO. "This is one of the reasons why we chose Jungheinrich as a partner for our new automation solution. Thanks to its expertise in this area, the intralogistics expert Jungheinrich has already proven many times that it stands for the same values."
