3rd place in category 5: Logistics software: The Fortna OptiSlot DC slotting software was developed for the complex requirements of modern warehousing. OptiSlot offers high-performance storage strategies that specifically take into account a company's requirements, parameters and objectives.
Its use enables the dynamic reaction to constantly changing influences in warehousing, picking and shipping that is essential today. OptiSlot offers comprehensive functions for initial slotting - for example when purchasing new equipment or making changes to the product range. However, it unfolds its full capacity in inventory slotting, which maps changes in quantities, turnover, demand and article requirements in storage and stock transfer strategies in active systems and processes - for example, when order volumes grow, when shipping changes occur or when promotional goods are on offer. The software uses combinatorial, proprietary algorithms to create a customer-specific target slot map and converts this into concrete, cost-optimized work plans. OptiSlot is used in over 80 countries and achieves an average reduction in replenishment movements of 20-30% and an increase in picking performance of 10-15%. For modern storage and picking systems, it is essential that a large number of article items can be processed during slotting and that countless structuring factors can be taken into account. Many tools reach their limits here, as they are based on spreadsheets, allow few definable variables and can hardly be adapted to individual customer parameters. OptiSlot offers much more: patented processes, in-memory computing and object-oriented analyses enable the rapid processing of large and complex data sets and the provision of comprehensive planning and analysis functions. The software captures the basic scenario and allows the creation of alternative, virtually comparable strategies. In analysis mode, OptiSlot offers a wide range of visual tools and what-if functions, such as color coding, plan views and logical representations.
