Portfolio expanded
Bosch Rexroth and Klinkhammer cooperate on warehouse automation
System integrator and warehouse automation expert Klinkhammer Intralogistics is expanding its automated picking portfolio to include Smart Item Picking from Bosch Rexroth.
In the course of booming industries such as e-commerce and fulfillment, high-performance small-quantity and single-item picking is becoming increasingly important. A shortage of skilled workers, growing cost pressure and increasing demands on workplace design and ergonomics also pose major challenges for the logistics sector. The automation of picking stations brings decisive advantages here.
The Smart Item Picking robotic system from Rexroth picks a wide variety of products that are supplied by shuttle systems or other small parts warehouses. "This boosts efficiency, increases reliability and reduces the operating costs of the entire system," explains Jochen Groener, Project Manager for Smart Item Picking at Bosch Rexroth.
The system's intelligent image recognition determines the position of randomly distributed products at different heights and orientations and, with intelligent collision avoidance, enables a trouble-free "reach into the box". The robot is seamlessly integrated into Klinkhammer's modern warehouse management system KlinkWARE via a standard interface and thus receives its picking orders. Klinkhammer integrates Bosch Rexroth's Smart Item Picking into both new and existing logistics systems, digitally networks the systems and controls the material flow from goods receipt to dispatch. Smart Item Picking can also be used for warehouse activities beyond order picking, such as warehouse consolidation and consolidation of goods.
"With the intelligent smart picking robot from Bosch Rexroth, we are taking another step towards full automation. The efficient picking of individual parts offers our customers a decisive competitive advantage," explains Frank Klinkhammer, Managing Director, Klinkhammer Intralogistics GmbH.
"With Klinkhammer Intralogistics, we have a successful partner with in-depth industry knowledge in the logistics market," emphasizes Thomas Fechner, Head of Product Area New Business at Bosch Rexroth. "For Smart Item Picking, we have worked closely together to combine the in-depth technical understanding of our colleagues in Bosch Research with Rexroth's project expertise. The result is a flexible, high-performance system that is already ready for use in the factory of the future thanks to the support of artificial intelligence."
