At the Swiss Commercial Vehicle Salon transport-CH, E-Force One symbolically handed over the keys to two fully electric tractor units to the container hinterland logistics network Contargo.

Contargo is thus receiving the first two fully electric 44-ton trucks from the Swiss manufacturer and the 3rd and 4th e-trucks for its fleet. The company, which already uses two e-trucks in Duisburg, will use the two vehicles in the Lower Rhine region for local container transport in future.

Goal: decarbonization by 2050
"Our goal is decarbonization by 2050 at the latest, and e-mobility is a building block in our holistic approach," said Heinrich Kerstgens, Co-Managing Director of Contargo, at the handover of the keys. "With the two E-Force One vehicles, we are getting vehicles with larger batteries, more range and a higher payload than our first two e-trucks. This allows us to test in practice which vehicles can best demonstrate their strengths where and for which operations."

Sascha Hähnke, Managing Director of Rhenus Transport: "We're taking an innovative approach with our customer Contargo that no other logistics company has done before. We are adding the two E-Force One vehicles to the first battery-powered truck fleet in Germany. Together with Contargo, we want to signal to the outside world that this technology has a future."

The EF18 SZM from E-Force One has a gross vehicle weight of 44 tons and the battery has a capacity of 350 kW. This gives the model a range of around 250 kilometers and a top speed of 87 km/h. The battery can be fully charged overnight with 44 kW in around eight hours, with fast charging it takes around one hour.
