"At the beginning of my new decade of life, I have made the personal decision to retire," said Stefan Buchner. "I would like to thank all my colleagues for the excellent cooperation and the many special moments in over three decades - above all the successful premiere of the new Actros at the IAA 2018. We have achieved a lot at Mercedes-Benz Trucks in recent years, but there is still a lot to do. The foundation has been laid with the latest structural measures," Buchner continued.

"As a long-standing member of the Daimler Trucks Board of Management, Stefan Buchner has made a significant contribution to the successful further development of our company. This includes the creation of a global organization for the powertrain of our trucks, which is so important for our competitive advantage, as well as important structural and strategic changes at Mercedes-Benz Trucks. On behalf of the Board of Management and Supervisory Board, I would like to thank Stefan Buchner most sincerely for his many years of service to our company. We wish him all the best for the time after Daimler," said Martin Daum, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG.

The period also offers sufficient opportunity for an orderly transition," continued Daum.

Stefan Buchner has been a member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG since November 2019, where he has been responsible for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Europe/Latin America region, since 2013. After training as a communications equipment mechanic at Deutsche Bundesbahn, he completed a degree in industrial engineering at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences.
