Krummen Kerzers expands LNG project

Krummen Kerzers AG is expanding its commitment to the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in heavy goods transport. In early summer 2020, the logistics company plans to expand the "Goodbye Diesel - Hello LNG" LNG project initiated with Lidl Switzerland and put a third filling station for liquefied natural gas (LNG) into operation in Switzerland.

This is to be built in the Egerkingen area. The logistics company has also decided to purchase additional LNG trucks. This investment decision is based on the Swiss National Council's decision on Monday (September 9) to continue to grant tax breaks on natural gas, liquid gas and biogenic fuels.

"The clear decision by the National Council to continue the tax relief beyond June 30 of next year is a big plus in terms of security for our strategic planning," says Peter Krummen, Managing Director of Krummen Kerzers AG.

The tax reduction for environmentally friendly fuels that has been in place since July 2008 would have expired at the end of June 2020. However, the large chamber of the Swiss parliament has now voted in favor of extending the current rules until the revised CO2 Act comes into force, or until the end of December 2021. In addition, the previous unequal tax treatment of liquefied and gaseous natural gas is to be rectified.
