Cost killer CNG and LNG
Iveco S-Way NP drives toll-free as standard
Following the Federal Council's final decision, the gas-powered Iveco S-WAY NP will be toll-free in Germany for a further three years. The Iveco S-Way NP is available as a CNG and LNG variant.
With these currently only existing diesel alternatives, hauliers benefit not only from the toll exemption until December 31, 2023 and the significantly lower fuel costs, but also from subsidies for new purchases until the end of 2020. The state subsidy amounts to up to 12,000 euros for an LNG truck and up to 8,000 euros for CNG trucks. With these cost benefits, the additional costs of the purchase are quickly amortized depending on the mileage. In addition to cost-effectiveness, the S-Way NP also scores highly in terms of sustainability. A gas engine is not only much quieter in operation, but also more environmentally friendly than a comparable diesel engine. Compared to a diesel truck, NO2 and particulate emissions are lower. If biogas is used, up to 95 percent of CO2 can be saved to reduce the burden on the environment.
Iveco has not only put the gas technology on the road and actively initiated and supported the development of the infrastructure, but also has expertise with more than 7,000 LNG vehicles sold across Europe. Filling station operators are now also benefiting from the predictability and investment security, which is clearly reflected in the filling station network. In Germany alone, 22 LNG filling stations are currently in operation at busy junctions. By the end of 2020, 70 LNG filling stations are expected to be available in Germany. There are now 250 gas filling stations across Europe.
