Four Spanish trainees start at PEMA
Commercial vehicle rental company PEMA welcomed four trainees from Spain to Herzberg on March 11. As part of a twelve-month adaptation qualification, they are training to become "automotive mechatronics technicians specializing in commercial vehicle technology".
Adelante!" project: Skilled workers from Spain
The background to the campaign is the international IHK project "Adelante!", which aims to recruit additional skilled workers from Spain. The program begins with an eight-week work trial. The trainees, who are accommodated in host families in Göttingen, have prepared for their professional future in advance with an intensive language course and have achieved B1-B2 level German language skills.
Focus on practical experience and personal support
From the sixth of May, the trainees will continue with a twelve-month adaptation qualification. During this phase, the trainees will acquire the necessary practical experience in PEMA's own workshop. This will enable the four who have already acquired a similar vocational qualification in Spain to have it recognized in Germany in 2020. "The main difference between the Spanish and German training systems lies in the practical phases, which are much longer and mandatory in Germany," says Andrea Dohle from PEMA's HR department. The Spanish specialists receive expert support throughout the entire program. For example, master mechanic Daniel Großkopf and a journeyman will be on hand to answer any questions the young colleagues may have.
