To this end, the company is expanding its business to become a provider of complete logistics chains. Customers of Deutsche Bahn's rail freight services should therefore be offered significantly more service in future. To this end, DB Cargo is expanding its traditional business model with the block train, single wagonload and combined transport divisions to include rail logistics services. By the mid-2020s at the latest, DB Cargo aims to continuously become a rail logistics provider in its home market of Germany and in Europe and return to sustainable profitability.

DB Cargo CEO Dr. Sigrid Nikutta: "Every year, we transfer the cargo of 25 million trucks from road to climate-friendly rail. The new rail logistics will make a decisive contribution to this. We will convince our customers with much easier access to rail and attractive offers in Germany, Europe and Asia."

Growth of 30 percent is forecast for the entire freight transport market by 2030. More and more industrial sites are being established in Eastern Europe that are connected by rail. According to DB Cargo, the company is ideally placed here, as it already has the strongest network of all rail freight companies in Europe.
