Daimler receives approval for autonomous driving in Beijing
Beijing, 09.07.2018 - Daimler has received approval to test fully automated vehicles (at Level 4) on public roads in the Chinese capital after extensive test drives on the proving ground. Vehicles can now be tested in real traffic. Level 4 autonomous driving means that the system takes over control of the vehicle permanently, but the driver can be asked by the system to take over at any time if the system deems it necessary.
"Under the motto 'Inspiration from China, Innovation for China', we strive to offer our local customers technologies, products and services that are specifically tailored to their needs," explained Hubertus Troska, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG.
Daimler has already received approvals for testing automated vehicles in Germany and the USA.
